Tension piles can be used to counter uplift of a base due to water pressures. Tension piles are a quick and cost effective method used extensively where a large or deep slab needs to be reduced in size.

WT have also developed techniques that enable the tension piles to be installed from ground level at the beginning of the contract using de-coupling methods which allow the piles to be in place before the dig.
